Dog Training
In North Devon

We start with real life foundation skills that prepare you and your dog for everyday life and future activities. Once those foundations are in place, you can progress into hoopers, rally, agility or gundog style work. Scentwork is open to all dogs, with foundations available for those who need them. Training is clear, reward based and structured so you can move forward with confidence.

What I Offer

Scentwork

A natural, dog led activity that taps into your dog’s strongest sense. We build a clear seeking system that helps dogs search with balance, confidence, and independence. It’s enriching, calming, and ideal for dogs who need mental work, reassurance, or a job that feels instinctive.

Gundog Not Gundog

Gundog Not Gundog is a practical activity class built around gundog‑style skills, designed for any breed. It focuses on steadiness, recall, retrieving, hunting games and clear communication — the kind of skills that improve everyday life as much as they prepare dogs for activity work. It’s structured, reward‑based training that builds confidence, control and teamwork without needing a gundog or any interest in shooting sports.

Hoopers

A flowing, low impact sport where dogs learn to run courses of hoops, barrels, and tunnels with freedom and connection. The long term goal is distance handling and smooth, controlled movement, from complete beginners right through to competition level. The background training builds brilliant real‑life skills: focus, body awareness, and calm responsiveness.

Rally Obedience

A relaxed, teamwork‑based activity where you and your dog move through a course of simple stations together. It builds communication, focus, and real‑life skills in a calm, structured way, without pressure or perfectionism. We also take part in online Rally trials for anyone who enjoys working towards goals at their own pace.

Agility

A fun, confidence‑building activity where dogs learn to navigate jumps, tunnels, and simple equipment at a pace that suits them.
We focus on clear communication, safe movement, and co‑operative teamwork — not speed or pressure.
Agility helps dogs develop body awareness, balance, and problem‑solving skills, all of which translate into calmer, more confident behaviour in everyday life.
Suitable for complete beginners through to dogs who enjoy working towards more advanced skills.

About Me

I’m a welfare‑led trainer specialising in scentwork, hoopers, and confidence‑building activities for pet dogs. I’m a Scentwork UK Instructor, an Advanced CHUK Instructor and Judge, and I co‑run Super Hoopers and Super Sniffers, providing monthly competitions, workshops, and trials across the South West.

I’ve spent the last twenty five years teaching dogs and their humans how to work together with clarity, calmness, and a bit of dry humour. My background includes agility up to Grade 6, behaviour training, and ongoing CPD with leading educators — all of which shapes the practical, low‑pressure way I teach.
